ESPERANZA is a space for visual artists who make work about memory, place, identity, and family history.

This project is dedicated to my great-grandmother, Esperanza Balmaceda de Josefé, the Mexican communist feminist and social worker who fought for women’s rights, Pan-American feminism, and equality for indigenous women.

ESPERANZA project space was founded in September 2020 by Rain Gideon. This is an independent project that centers artists across identity and ability.
